The Sanyo-Tokaido Shinkansen line opened in its entirety in 1975.
More than 40 years have passed since then, and our business bases, Shinkansen Hakata Station and Kokura Station, have developed into "gateways" connecting the 3 major metropolitan areas of Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo with Kyushu and Fukuoka.
While the Shinkansen extends "westward," souvenirs and local specialties from Kyushu and Fukuoka are spreading "eastward, across Japan" through customers coming from the 3 major metropolitan areas. At the same time, our business area, which initially started out as a station kiosk business, has steadily evolved, expanding little by little as we kept up with the development of railways and the changes of the times.
In recent years, people's lifestyles have changed dramatically due to a declining birthrate and aging population, an increase in foreign visitors to Japan, advances in ICT technology and globalization, and diversifying values, and customer needs are constantly evolving.
In order for our company to continue to grow even in this environment, we must work together with our business partners as a company that coexists with the local community in Kyushu and Fukuoka, discover and develop attractive products from the region, expand our sales channels, and become a partner company that is trusted and valued by the local community.
